God’s Promises

When I see a rainbow I am always reminded of God’s promise, after the great flood, to never destroy the earth with water again. But there are literally thousands of promises in the Bible we can rely upon. I have chosen only a few of my favorites I’d like to share with you.

1. God promises to never leave us:

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6, NIV).

What comfort we can glean from this promise, our God is with us! It doesn’t matter where we are or what we are doing. We never have to be afraid of anyone or anything. God is right beside us at all times. Even in the midst of all the chaos our nation is experiencing with Covid-19, the protest and riots. God is with us and he will never leave us or forsake us.

2. He loves us regardless of our sins:

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us”. (Romans 5:8, NIV).

Jesus lay down his life for us, he did this knowing some would accept him, others would not. He never asks anything of us except to believe in him.

3. He promises us a place in heaven:

My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am”. (John 14:2-4, NIV).

This may be my most favorite. Can you even imagine? God the lord of the universe wants us to come to his house, not just for a short visit but for all of eternity! He has invited us in by sending his son, Jesus. Our RSVP is simply to acknowledge and accept Jesus into our hearts and lives.

Romans 10: 9-10, NIV

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

How simple can that be, right? However we can make it seem so difficult. I know for me, I went for years trying to earn my invitation. I tried to being “good” but I failed, over and over again. Then I went for several more years thinking I was not nor would I ever be good enough to get that invite.

Satan wants us all to doubt that God’s invitation could never be for us. However, our Heavenly Father is patiently waiting for us to come to him. Waiting for us to lay all of our burdens and fears at His feet and accept the gift of salvation he has planned for us.

We can know one thing for sure, is that we can never be good enough to receive God’s invitation. Jesus was the only perfect one and he paid the ultimate death so we could all be set free and have eternal life.

Thank God he never gave up on me. I now know Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Having received, accepted and responded to my invitation! We don’t need to strive to be good enough, God’s promises are meant for all of us. Search his word, what are some of your favorite promises?
